How to Get a Card

Anyone owning property or residing in Graves County or the surrounding counties may apply for a library card at the Graves County Public Library.

Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian with a photo ID to sign for a physical library card.

Stop in at the library’s Circulation Desk to fill out an application. Online library cards are only available through our online card catalog.

A free library card is issued to most Kentucky residents showing picture I.D. with acceptable name and address identification, including:

  • Driver’s License
  • Kentucky State ID
  • Current piece of mail on company letterhead received via mail with current postmark
  • Copy of renter’s lease

Cards are issued to children starting at age 5 with the discretion of their parent or guardian. A parent or guardian must be present with the child to sign library card applications for anyone under the age of 18.

If a parent or legal guardian is not present, a child may get a library card if they’ve been emancipated by showing proof of emancipation.

Report lost or stolen cards immediately. A $2 fee is charged to replace a lost or damaged card.

If you move or change your name, let us know. There is no fee for a name or address update.

A person living out of state may get a library card by paying an annual fee of $10.

No out of state cards are created on the bookmobile.
